Man driving golf cart shoots police officer

RICHMOND, Virginia (WWBT) – Richmond police are looking for a man accused of shooting a police officer Wednesday night.

On September 21, at around 10:17 pm, a police officer reported seeing a man recklessly driving a golf cart in the North 25th Street and Fairmont Avenue area.

The officer tried to stop the man along North 28th Street, but police say the “driver fled on foot, turned and fired at least one shot at the officer and then continued to run west on S Street.”

The RPD said the bullet hit the officer’s vehicle. The officer shot back, but it didn’t look like the suspect was shot.

Police said the man was driving a golf cart stolen from Oliver Crossings Apartments on September 20.
