Bozeman, Butte boys, West, Hellgate girls claim divisional titles

Boys Bozeman and Butte and girls Billings West and Missoula Hellgate won divisional golf championships the Friday before next week’s Class AA state tournament.

At Eastern AA in Bozeman, Hawks’ Cooper Bourret took medalist honors at Cottonwood Hills, shooting a score of 149 in two days, three strokes better than second place Gavin Klein of Bozeman Gallatin. Bozeman bested Gallatin for the team title, 624-654.

On the women’s side, West’s Bella Johnson won the singles title with a score of 152 in two days, four more shots than Bozeman Gallatin’s Addiley Lloyd. West won the team championship with a total score of 669.

At Western AA at Northern Pines in Kalispell, Jack Prigge of Butte defeated Tyler Avery of Glacier by one hit for medalist honors, 140 to 141.

Missoula Hellgate’s Anna Stensrud was actually challenged to win the women’s title, and she hit a score of 159, 16 strokes better than Helena Capital’s Olivia McGreevey. The Knights took home the team title with a cumulative score of 812, 10 more kicks than the Bruins.

The Class AA state tournament starts next week in Helena.
