WOMEN’S FOOTBALL WILL RETURN HOME TO HOST WRIGHT STATE

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI Women’s Soccer Team will continue the league portion of their schedule on Sunday (September 25) when the Jaguars host Wright State (6-4, 3-0 HL) at noon at Michael A. Carroll, on campus. IUPUI are coming off their first loss of the campaign when the Jaguars went down on the road in Northern Kentucky Thursday night, 3-0.

After conceding just two goals in the first seven games of the season combined, the IUPUI (5-1-4, 1-1-1 HL) allowed seven goals in three games to open the Horizon League game. For the year, the IUPUI outperformed its foes by a margin of 14-9 as a senior Maya Lacognato has five highest scores of the team and freshman Emma Frey has three goals and one assist. Both Sam Slimak and Emma Antoine counted twice.

second year back Makenna Collins has three assists and the freshman striker Sarah Henson have two. Redshirt’s second year goalkeeper Ashton Kudlo started nine of the 10 IUPUI competitions with 0.76 goals against average and 0.806 percentage saves. Freshman Cailynn Junk has made four appearances and has a save percentage of 1.39 GAA and 0.769.

Senior Maya Turner continues to be the driving force behind a petty IUPUI defense, having logged 768 minutes as a freshman Kailyn Smith played 743 minutes. collins and freshman White Sofia are next in line at 732 and 702 respectively.

WRIGHT SCOUT STATUS
Wright State comes in 6-4 overall and 3-0 to start the Horizon League game with wins over Milwaukee, Youngstown State and Green Bay despite being outnumbered 19-17 for the year. The Raiders have scored goals from 12 different sources this year, led by Lauren Borchert’s three team records. Olivia Mace has three assists, while Josie Krupp has two. Jessika Seward started all 10 games on goal and has 1.89 goals against the average with three shutouts.

INSIDE THE SERIES
The IUPUI is 3-9 all-time against Wright State with a 3-3 mark in six meetings in Indianapolis. The Jaguars won two in a row before hitting the road, 2-1, last season in Dayton. IUPUI have won their last three matches in Indy, with the last losing 4-1 in 2012, before the Jaguars joined the Horizon League.
