The Bozeman boys set the pace on day one; Gallatin girls lead by 5

BOZEMAN – The horizon didn’t look very promising regarding the weather, but East AA golfers had only a minimal delay midway through Thursday’s round, which allowed them to finish 18 holes on day one of the divisional tournament.

Overall, scores were higher at the Riverside Country Club due to the heavy and wet conditions, but there were still some gritty performances that put the usual suspects in the lead.

After Day 1, the team scores were what you’d expect: on the women’s side, Bozeman Gallatin narrowly leads Billings Senior 334 to 339. On the men’s side, it was a battle of the Bozeman teams with Bozeman High leading the way with a score of 309, while Gallatin is in second place with 322.

Individually, current Class AA state champion Bella Johnson of Billings West tops the leaderboard with a score of 75. Behind her are Addiley Lloyd of Gallatin with 76 and Kenzie Walsh of Billings Senior, with 78.

On the boys’ side, Bozeman’s Nate Pailthorpe is alone as the sole leader with a 73. Bozeman’s Cooper Bourret and Billings Skyview’s Tye Boone are tied for second at 74. West’s Palmer Coleman hit a 75 to go into Day 2. in third place with Gavin of Gallatin Klein nipping at his heels with a score of 76.

Tomorrow’s round starts at 10am at Cottonwood Hills Golf Club in Bozeman.
