Grant Hill recounts his fatal illnesses

Injury and illness are any athlete’s two worst nightmares. Unfortunately, the 7-time All-Star had to deal with every single one of them, which hurt his career. Hill testified about his experience with the disease. Hill suffered from the lethal MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) Staph infection.. This appeared to be a life-threatening situation for him.

In an interview on BleacherReport, Hill said “I had an MRSA infection in my ankle, at the time I had never heard of MRSA. I didn’t really know much about it.” He added, “That really scared me. I’m lucky to be able to sit here now and talk it over with you.”According to a report in 2017, more than 20,000 people died from MRSA in the US.

Hill said, “As an athlete and a father, I have children who are in school, I think it’s important to educate and inform.”
