Texas Tech LB Ramirez returns home after horrific injury

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Texas Tech linebacker Bryce Ramirez is back in Texas five days after breaking his left leg in a horrific injury sustained during a game in North Carolina.

Ramirez returned to Lubbock on Thursday, met at the airport by head coach Joey McGuire and others as he was taken to the terminal two days before the Red Raiders face rivals Texas in the Big 12’s home debut.

Junior’s fourth year week in Raleigh, North Carolina included a hospital visit from NC State head coach Dave Doeren and members of his team. Ramirez received a big get well card. He tweeted a photo while thanking Doeren and his program.

Doeren said on Thursday it was “the right thing to do”. Ramirez underwent two surgeries on his broken leg while in North Carolina.

“If my son was in the same situation in another city, I would expect someone to do this for my son,” said Doeren.
