Men’s shoes continue the fall season in Michigan

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Four members of the Navy Men’s Tennis Team will travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan this weekend to participate in the Vredevelt Invitational hosted by Western Michigan. The event takes place Saturday and Sunday at the school’s Sorensen Courts.

In addition to players from the Navy and Western Michigan, the 34-player field also consists of contestants from Butler, Chicago State, Cleveland State and DePaul.

There will be a doubles round followed by two singles rounds on Saturday, with two doubles rounds and a singles round on Sunday.

The Mids that make the trip are Cy McLeod (So., Augusta, G.), Nicholas Nguyen (Jr., McLean, Virginia), Christian Pumpelly (Mr., Atlanta, Georgia) and Gavin Segraves (Mr., Charlottesville, Virginia).

McLeod and Pumpelly competed at last week’s Joe Hunt Invitational in Annapolis. Pumpelly managed a 3-1 singles record and teamed up with Nathan Nguyen (Fr., McLean, Virginia) for a 1-3 doubles record. McLeod, meanwhile, shared his four singles matches and paired with Eric Liu (Jr., Canton, Michigan) in doubles. The team lost each of its four matches.

Nicholas Nguyen and Segraves will make their respective Fall 2022 debuts this weekend.
