Jackson roundup: Western, Northwest Soccer get wins

The western football team beat Harper Creek 3-0 on Thursday in the Panther Bowl.

Jeff Palmer scored an assist from Christian Roza late in the first half. Palmer passed Roarke Watterson in the second half to make it 2-0, before Watterson assisted on a Cyrus Comfort goal.

Northwest 3, Lumen Christi 1: The Mounties managed goals from Nick Grimes, Jaire Richardson and Rubenn Lanphear to recover from an initial 1-0 deficit.

Teagen Hudgins added an assist.

Jackson 133, Pinckney 42: The Vikings raced to victory, taking first place in 10 of 12 events in the SEC White opener.

The 200 medley relay of Isabelle Ortiz, Catherine Kestner, Megan Jones and Olivia Brethauer won in 2:10.67. Ortiz, Brethauer, Jones and Sydney Langley won the 200-metre freestyle in 1:54.17.

Jones also took first in the dive, with 196.10 points, and in the 100 butterfly in 1:08.56.

Langely won the 50 freestyle in 28.09 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 1:01.42.

Janessa Britton won the 100 backstroke in 1m16s92. Everette Drummond won the 200 freestyle in 2:29.59. Kestner won the 100 breaststroke in 1:28.99.

Drummond, Britton, Gillian Snyder and Amelia Walicki won the 400 meters freestyle in 4:30.47.
