Did Tenacious D actually make a song about Giannis Antetokounmpo?

An NBA Finals MVP award and a championship ring to go with it are all very well, but now the Bucks star has been immortalized in music. It gets better?

Tenacious D sings in honor of Giannis Antetokounmpo

For those who attended a recent Tenacious D concert in Milwaukee, there was a special gift in store. The band, made up of Jack Black and comedian Kage Gass, surprised those in attendance with a new song about one of the city’s favorite sons, NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Clearly huge fans of the two-time NBA MVP, the band’s unexpected gesture was made all the funnier by the fact that they are staunch Los Angeles Lakers fans! “You know me and Kage, we’re Lakers for life, but there’s a player, no matter what team he’s on, we [expletive] love him,” Black said. “Do you know why? He’s amazing.”

Is Giannis Antetokounmpo worth it?

In fact, if you’re going to pick a player from the league to be a fan, the ‘Greek Freak’ is just as good a choice, if not better than any other. Fans will remember the way he led the Bucks to a title in 2021. His last campaign, while not ending with a championship, was no less prolific averaging 29.9 points, 11.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. On the back of his exploits, Antetokounmpo was selected to the All-NBA First Team for the fourth straight season. If that wasn’t enough, he played in his sixth straight All-Star game, as well as being named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team. Of course, there’s also the fact that he’s hard not to like as a person, which could also be part of why Tenacious D made a song about him.
