Austin Peay State University Soccer drops to Central Arkansas, 1-0 – Clarksville Online




The governors maintained possession in the Bears’ defensive zone early on, with junior Annabel Anderson registering the first shot of the afternoon in the second minute, which went over the crossbar.

Sophomore Haley Patterson recorded the Govs’ fourth kick in the 30th minute, the attempt began a streak of 10 consecutive APSU attempts to finish the half, including four sophomore Alec Baumgardt kicks.

At half-time, the APSU Govs edged out UCA 14-2, their biggest margin in a half-year this season.

Making her first start of her career, rookie Kasidy Schenk scored her first career shot in the 51st minute but couldn’t get past Bears goalie Lenja Kenstel in the second half.

Sydney Brough of Central Arkansas scored the winning goal in the 65th minute. Austin Peay attempted three more shots after the UCA score, but could not get past the UCA defense.

The governors tied with the season’s top 20 plays in defeat.

Austin Peay State University’s 14 first-half shots were the second most shots in any full game this season.

The APSU governors’ 14 first-half attempts were the most first-half attempts since the governors fired 17 first-half shots against Alabama A&M on September 16, 2021.

The govs’ eight shots on goal were their highest this season.

The five shots on goal in the first half were APSU’s most in a while this season.

Baumgardt recorded the best marks of the season in shots (four) and shots on goal (two) until the break of Thursday’s match.

Rookie Kasidy Schenk has entered the starting lineup for the first time this season. The Indianapolis, Indiana native played all 90 minutes in the loss.

Lindsey McMahon extended her best starting streak to 27 games.
