The Merrill Girls Varsity Tennis Team continues to compete, focusing on developing the skills needed to form a solid tennis team for the future.
On Thursday, September 15, 2022, Wisconsin Rapids came to Merrill for some on-court competition. Rapids won the match 7-9, but the Merrill Girls have their sights set on the long haul.
Merrill women’s volleyball head coach Brad Barton said the girls continue to improve in ways that count. “Madisin Jacobs played an excellent first set today,” he said.
“Lauren Cohrs fought like a champion to almost walk away with a win.”
And “Emily Frahm looked very impressive in her Junior Varsity match. Emily has played a few Varsity games this year as well,” he said.

Tuesday, September 13, the Merrill Girls traveled to Stevens Point Area High School (SPASH) for a match. Despite a loss later in the day, the Merrill Girls showed improvements that will help Merrill in the long run.
“Lauren Cohrs had his best game of the year,” said Barton. “She played an athletic opponent who had a lot of different spins in her shots. She had a good strategy against her, but in the end it wasn’t enough. She and Sarah Rell still have the best team records. Both are essential to help this team grow for the coming seasons.”
