WHAT IS AT STAKE?

Penn State opens a two-game home with an adjustment against a Mid-American Conference opponent before hosting Northwestern next week. The Nittany Lions want to stay sharp and healthy as a 4th place matchup for Michigan looms on October 15th. The Michigan center is looking for its first win over an AP Top 25 team since 2016 and only its second in 25 years.

KEY COMBINATION

Central Michigan offensive line against Penn State front seven. The Chippewas threw Bucknell for 287 yards last week. They will need to control the clock with their racing game to have a chance at this one. The Nittany Lions will be a much tougher test. Led by 320-pound tackle PJ Mustipher, Penn State has won the scrimmage line in every game so far and had 11 tackles to a loss with six sacks at Auburn last week.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Central Michigan: QB Daniel Richardson is completing 58% of his passes and has thrown for 879 yards and seven touchdowns in his first year as a full-time starter. He will need to be better on third down, which is where the Penn State defense excels. So far, Richardson has turned just 10 of his 32 pass attempts from third down to first down.

Penn State: RB Nick Singleton showed how dangerous he is on the edge and in space, and the rookie could have more opportunities with Keyvone Lee beating Auburn and questionable.
