Watertown humiliates Mitchell’s women’s tennis at home – Mitchell Republic

MITCHELL – Mitchell’s regular season tennis doubles schedule for women’s tennis ended with a thud Tuesday at Hitchcock Park, with Watertown beating the Kernels 8-1.

It was the most lopsided loss for the Kernels (14-6) in a duo this season and Mitchell had few answers for the Arrows, who improved to 14-3 for the season with the double win.

Mitchell’s only win of the day came from Carsyn Weich, who defeated Leyla Meester in a 6-3, 6-1 match. Delaney Degen was defeated in 2nd place by Ellie Zink of Watertown 7-6 (7-5) 6-1. Josie Heyn bested Elly Clement de Mitchell in the number 4 singles match 6-2, 7-5.

In doubles match #1, Ellie Zink and Josie Heyn of Watertown beat Amber Moller and Delaney Degen in a 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 10-3 match. Jaida Young and Leyla Meester won tag team #2 7-5, 6-1 over Carsyn Weich and Megan Mastel.

Mitchell will host the South Dakota Eastern Conference meeting on Tuesday, September 28 at Hitchcock Park.
