Texas Newcomers Report: Real rookie Jaylon Guilbeau made waves against UTSA

Welcome back to this week’s Texas Longhorns Rookie Report.

It’s less of a report, frankly, than a quick rundown of how some of the new faces of Texas football — freshmen as well as those who joined the Longhorns via the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Short and sweet, in other words.

Opponent: UTSA Roadrunners

Jaydon Blue, RB: The real freshman got there. At least for some plays.

Savion Red, WR: Red, a true freshman, saw some action.

Kelvin Banks, LT: The true five-star rookie Banks made his third start — in three games, no less — over the weekend. Banks is among a cast of true rookies who have started to impress the crew and fans – they’re really blocking it! – similar.

Cole Hutson, RG: Fellow rookie true Hutson saw his third of the season.

Cameron Williams, RT:Texas’ \Williams saw quite a bit of play time.

Aaron Bryant, DL: The real rookie Bryant found himself on the field for a few plays.

Zac Swanson, DL: Swanson, another true rookie, saw game time but, like the others, did not record a tackle against UTSA.

Ethan Burke, EDGE: The real rookie Burke had 1 tackle.

Judge Finkley, EDGE: Real rookie Finkley saw limited action.

J’Mond Tapp, EDGE: Real freshman Tapp saw action against UTSA.

Diamond Tucker-Dorsey, LB: The former FCS standout, who joined the Longhorns last offseason, saw 3 tackles on the night (2 solos, 1 assist). He also recorded a sack.

Ryan Watts, CB: Junior cornerback saw 2 tackles on the night (1 solo, 1 assist).

Terrance Brooks, CB: Real rookie Brooks saw limited play time.

Austin Jordan, CB: The real rookie Jordan can say he saw the field against UTSA.

Jaylon Guilbeau, NB: Guilbeau, Texas’ best defensive rookie, made his second start for the Longhorns over the weekend. He finished the day with 4 tackles, 0.5 loss.

Will Stone, K.: 7 kickoffs and 3 touchbacks for the true rookie kicker.
