During the off-season, the Presbyterian College men’s basketball program will publish Getting to Know interviews. This week’s interview features the second year guard Marquis Barnett.
Last season, he was named to the Big South Conference rookie team. He collected five double-digit scoring games, all against Big South Conference foes. He grabbed at least five rebounds in six games. He scored a season-high 17 points on 7 of 12 field goals against Campbell (March 2) in the Big South Conference Tournament. In the 2021-22 season, he averaged 7.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

If you could play another sport in college, what would it be? Baseball
The hardest thing about being a student-athlete: Being able to consistently balance your work in the classroom and on the court.
Does your shirt number have any meaning: I’m my parents’ firstborn, so that’s why I wear number one.
Why did you choose to come to PC: I really loved Coach Ferrell’s plan. Coach and I have the same vision. He wants the best for me, so why wouldn’t I want to play for someone who wants the best for me.
One word to describe your style of play: Versatile
What are the team’s goals for the season: Win the Big South Conference and go to the NCAA Tournament. We know what it takes to achieve this. Once we remain consistent in our work and trust the technical team’s plan, I feel we can achieve these goals.
What part of your game have you been working on during the offseason? Ballhandling and guard work.
Pre-game rituals: Pray before each game and listen to music to enter the zone.
Hidden talent: I’m pretty good at Call of Duty: Warzone.
