The tournament will be a chance for Mean Green to showcase their talents as each individual will try to earn a spot in the ITA Fall National Tournament.
“This is the biggest event of the fall for us”, head coach Sujay Lama said. “The matches we played last weekend will certainly help us get off to a good start. We want to keep building and developing with every opportunity we have.”
The first day of the tournament will feature a field of 64 players trying to qualify for the main draw on Friday, as well as the main doubles draw.
Mean Green will have a pair of doubles in the competition, including Jasmine Adams and Matilde Morais who enter the event as the 9th seed overall in the doubles draw. The other combination for Medium Green will be Olivia Malm and Gloria Alogo Piqueras on the lower half of the bracket.
the duo of Sofia Hummel and Kexuan Zhou will compete in the fall regional for the fourth year in a row, while Adams heads to the regional for the second time in his career.
Adams, who is coming off an impressive trip to the quarterfinals of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic last weekend, will look to build on his solid performance in 2021, when he advanced to the round of 16 in the singles main draw and found himself in the semifinals. main draw doubles with teammate Lucie Devier.
Zhou and Hummel, meanwhile, head to competition after winning two singles competitions at the Boston Invitational last weekend. Both will be accompanied by Olivia Halvorsen in the Thursday singles qualifying round.
The rookie quartet, Morais, Alogo Piqueras, Halvorsen and Malm will compete in the event for the first time.
The last and only time Mean Green took home an ITA Regional title was in 2018, when the pair of Maria Kononova and Tamuna Kutubidze won the tag team title to advance to the ITA National Fall Championships.
