Live to Play Mount Pleasant to Host Men’s Tennis Tour | community news

Live to Play Mount Pleasant is proud to announce the first men’s ATP Challenger Tour in Charleston, taking place September 25-October 2 at their Mathis Ferry Road location. Rising stars in the Association of Tennis Professionals, along with seasoned pros, take to the courts for this week-long tournament. This is the first time that a men’s ATP event will be held in the Lowcountry in many years.

Admission is free with seats available for spectators to watch international, national and local players compete. With the massive popularity of the WTA 500 Credit One Charleston Open, LTP organizers anticipate the men’s tour to be similar and see it as an opportunity to expand the community’s love of tennis.

“At LTP, we have hosted many WTA, ITF and junior nationals tournaments over the years. The community’s appreciation for professional tennis is incredible, so we knew that adding a men’s touring element to our curriculum for Lowcountry would be vital. From Australian player Jordan Thompson to University of South Carolina alumnus and 2019 NCAA singles champion Paul Jubb, the depth of talent is incredible. Add in young Americans Brandon Holt and Emilio Nava, who have had spectacular runs at the US Open this year, and this event will provide fans with an impressive view of the front row of players from around the world and perhaps the next US Open champion,” said Patrick. Hieber, Director of Tennis for the combined LTP facilities.

LTP Mount Pleasant is a haven for tennis enthusiasts of all ages and is located at 1513 Mathis Ferry Road. As a family-friendly sports complex, the LTP offers nine clay courts, seven hard courts and two pickleball courts with full outdoor lighting. LTP Mount Pleasant is home to a high-performance junior academy, the Pate Academy, the LTP Pro Player Development Program with multiple WTA and ATP players training there full-time, the Synchronicity Wellness Center and also the Wahoo Aquatic Club.

In 2021 and 2022, LTP Mount Pleasant has hosted a Women’s Tennis Association 125, two International Tennis Federation $100K’s, an ITF $60K, the International Tennis Association College Tennis Women’s All American Championships, the US Tennis Association Girls 18s National Clay Court Championships and six Universal Tennis Rating events $25,000.
