GIRLS FOOTBALL: Bemidji Floods Crookston Like Bitter, Zetah-Cornelius Net Keys – Bemidji Pioneer

CROOKSTON – The rules state that a football field must be level. But Bemidji High School’s women’s soccer team certainly didn’t play like that on Tuesday.

The Lumberjacks defeated Crookston 4-0 away from home, but the goal did not fully quantify the uneven nature of the case. BHS outscored the Pirates in shots on goal by a 27-1 margin.

Kate Corradi was the biggest terrorist on the network, recording seven kicks on target. Marah Bitter added another five – and she found the net on a couple of shots for a key in the second half. Sage Zetah-Cornelius also scored two goals, scoring on both shots on goal.

Zetah-Cornelius opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Bitter found her for a quick 1-0 lead. That was all until after the break, but Bitter finally doubled the lead with an unassisted goal in the 45th minute.

Bitter added another in the 53rd minute, assisted by Kate Halden. Zetah-Cornelius put the finishing touches to it in the 61st minute, with Bitter providing his second assist as the score reached 4-0.

Goalkeeper Kiera Nelson finished with one save for Bemidji, while Reese Swanson survived by 23 saves for the Pirates.

The Jacks will have a stronger test next, taking on East Grand Forks at 7pm on Thursday, September 22nd at Chet Anderson Stadium.
