Arellano University wants to prove that their back-to-back wins against powerful teams are no fluke, while San Sebastian College-Recoletos and San Beda University renew their feud Wednesday in the NCAA season 98.

Arellano, with a streak of two straight wins, will face Universidad Jose Rizal at 3pm, while San Sebastian and San Beda collide in their encounter at 12pm.

Arellano is fresh from a 61-59 escape from the University of the Perpetual Aid System DALTA last Friday, before pulling off a surprise from defending champions Colegio de San Juan de Letran in a 72-69 goal last Sunday.

And winning three of his first four games, Arellano coach Cholo Martin said he hopes to have the same momentum against a JRU team eager to watch Emilio Aguinaldo College’s 97-74 demolition last Saturday.

Prior to that, the Heavy Bombers failed to win in two matches after being defeated by Perpetual and Letran.

“‘Young team maganda attitude. Nagkakasundo sila so kahit nagaaway, simpre hindi mo maiiwasan, pero sila rin nagso-solve. Aalis na ako ‘pag nagaaway sila so bukas magkabati na sila,” Martin said.

San Sebastian, meanwhile, is trying to build on the momentum the Stags built when they surprised last season’s finalist Mapua University 57-56 by taking on the equally hungry side of San Beda.

The Red Lions are coming off a loss to University of the Philippines Lyceum last Saturday, where Mendiola’s team absorbed an 89-81 loss and dropped to 1-2.

Despite San Beda’s stance so far, San Sebastian coach Egay Macaraya stressed that they still need to be cautious as the Red Lions tend to be aggressive on the attacking side.

“Well, San Beda culture na ‘yan eh. Unpredictable ‘yung team na ‘yan. You can see on ‘pag may talaga chance, the winning culture is still there,” Macaraya said.

“They can throw three like layup eh, so I think the most important thing is coach bago’ yung, so hopefully, adjust sila ng but mabilis so who knows, and in the rin’ yan sa championship.”
