Women’s Golf Places 18th In Coeur d’Alene; Kang Top UH Finisher

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The University of Hawaii Women’s Golf Team finished 18thº place at the Coeur d’Alene Collegiate after a final round 301 Tuesday at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course.

Rainbow Wahine totaled 907 for the tournament, which was won by Sacramento State (851). Sac State’s Jennifer Koga and UC Riverside’s Kate Villegas were medalists with 4 under 209.

The first place of the UH was Hyeonji Kangwho managed a final round of 72 to finish 2-215 for the tournament and 16º Place, put. The 215 was a 54-hole low for Jeju, South Korea’s sophomore year, which also scored a career-high 69 during the second round.

Second year Mayumi Umezu posted his third straight 73 to finish 6-over 219 for the tournament and a tie to 24º Place, put. Freshman Wendy Song completed his first collegiate tournament with a final round 76 to finish tied for 74º place at 231. Second year Monica Johnson placed 9º in 242 and second year Ting Yu Liu withdrew from the tournament.

Rainbow Wahine will compete at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate October 7-9 in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
