Silva Named to College Football News Team of the Week

LOS ANGELES – UCLA Junior Left Wing Tommy Silva was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week.

Silva helped the Bruins to a 1-0-1 weekend at Stanford and California, the program’s first undefeated trip to Bay Area Pac-12 schools since 2013.

The Tucson, Arizona native made the difference last week, helping UCLA keep a clean sheet at Stanford on Thursday before assisting both of the Bruins’ goals in a 2-1 win over Cal on Sunday.

The loss was UCLA’s third of the season, second-most in the Pac-12 Conference. Sunday’s performance at Berkeley represented the first multi-assist game in Silva’s college career.

UCLA, ranked 15th in the nation, is 4-2-1 overall for the season with a 1-0-1 mark in conference games. The Bruins are next in action on Saturday, hosting Cal State Fullerton at 19:00 PT in the first of a four-game match. The first 200 UCLA students who pass through the gate of that game will receive free pizza.
