FAYETTEVILLE, Arca. – The Razorbacks kicked off their fall season with the first qualifying round at the ITF 15K Fayetteville Futures on Monday.
Sophomore Jake Sweeney started things this morning, going down in a tough 0-6, 1-6 match to Petar Jovanovic. Little Rock, Ark. native Foster Rogers followed through with his departure having to stop due to high outside temperatures. Rogers resumed his match in the second set unable to bounce back from the deficit, going down 2-6, 3-6 to Petar Teodorovic.
Junior Alan Sau Franco was the last game of the night, fighting Ewen Lumsden of Mississippi State. Sau Franco lost the tiebreaker of the first set by 6 to 7 and the tiebreaker of the second set by 1 to 10.
Play continues tomorrow morning with the second qualifying round followed by the first round of the main draw. Rookie Benedikt Emesz looks to remain off his win at the Wichita Fall Circuit, taking on Illinois’ Alexander Petrov in the first round of the main draw.
