CINCINATISam Jean’s 4 under 67 in the second round put him in fifth place, and the Cincinnati men’s golf team is tied for second after 36 holes at the Bearcat Invitational (Coldstream Country Club).

The few unfinished holes (Illinois State, Lamar, Sam Houston) will be played at 8:15 am, with the third and final round starting at 10 am. Entrance is open to fans as well.

“Today was a very solid golf day for this team,” said the coach. Doug Martin said. “The golf course was extremely tight and fast and it was a great challenge. Tomorrow will be another one and the course will only firm overnight. We have to execute our game plan and play very patiently tomorrow. I look forward to seeing this team compete.”

Gingerich, who changed jerseys when the tournament was last held in the fall of 2019, stood his ground with 71 and 70. Freshman Wyatt Plattner stole the show early on with a 66, matching Jean for the youngest season low.

Rylan Wotherspoon and William McDonald each had a 2-over 144, but Wotherspoon also carded a 2-under 69 for his season and career low.

On the individual side, the freshman Ryan Ford carded his first career eagle in the second round, on the same #4 hole as Jean (559 yards).
