Men’s football ranked nationally for the first time since 2005


PITTSBURGH – Men’s soccer team Duquesne, with a 6-0-1 start, earned a spot in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 for the first time in 17 years.

DU is tied for 25th nationally with Louisville in the September 20 poll that was announced today.

The Dukes, who were the first team in the show’s history to start 5-0, tied the school record for most games unbeaten to open a season set in 2002 (5-0-2) and tied by the current head coach. Chase Brooks‘ Dukes in 2019 (6-0-1).

The DU, who gave Loyola Chicago their first loss in the opening of Saturday’s Atlantic 10, are Duquesne’s first team to be ranked since the 2005 regular season co-champions A-10 ranked 24th in the poll of 8 November 2005.

The 2022 Dukes, who are also ranked third in the Southeast region by United Soccer Coaches, were among those who also received votes in United Soccer Coaches’ previous two polls.

Duquesne returns to action on Saturday, September 24, when he faces UMass in Amherst.
