ORLANDO, Florida (September 20, 2022) — Orlando City SC midfielder César Araújo has been named to the Major League Soccer 22 Under 22, presented by BODYARMOR, was announced today.
The 21-year-old midfielder made 30 appearances in 34 games in all competitions for City, adding two goals in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup semi-finals to help push the club into the final and eventually lift the Lions’ first trophy. in the MLS it was. Araújo currently ranks fifth in the MLS in fouls won (68) and sixth in passing accuracy (90.73%) in the entire league.
To be eligible for this list, players must have been born after October 10, 2000. The voting panel was comprised of staff at MLSsoccer.com, members of the MLS Players Department, and external media. Voters were asked to rank their Top 22 players in order based on technical, tactical, physical and potential skills.
Araújo joined the Lions ahead of the 2022 season of Montevideo Wanderers of the Liga Profesional de Primera División del Uruguay as part of Major League Soccer’s U22 Initiative.
