De La Salle-College de Saint Benilde unleashed a streak of third-quarter pitches to walk away from University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 81-64, and remain undefeated in NCAA Season 98 on Tuesday.
Benilde turned a one-point lead at half-time into a 23-point lead with a great third-quarter 32-10 streak led by Will Gozum and Robi Nayve, who contributed seven points each for the period.
Gozum finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and two blocks to lead the Blazers. Miggy Corteza had 15 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, while Nayve had 12 markers in the win.
Benilde remained the only team unharmed in the league with a clean plate of 3-0 as they dealt with back-to-back losses from Perpetual to leave them at 1-2.
The Blazers led 33-32 at halftime before opening the third period with a 12-0 run, but that hot-shooting match was just a prelude as Taft’s team walked away with a 23-point lead, 65-0. 42, to end the game. painting.
Benilde overcame Perpetual in that stretch, 32-10, with the Blazers hitting six three-pointers.
Altas could get back to 16 on a Kim Aurin free throw split, 75-59, late in the game, but there wasn’t enough time for Benilde to cross for the win.
Miggy Corteza’s 11-point departure at half-time helped Benilde create a one-point lead for the second half, 33-32. The Blazers, however, were unable to stop Rey Barcuma, who unleashed 10 markers in the first 20 minutes of action.
But Benilde turned around in the third on his way to a third win in as many games.
The win also served as something of a payback for Benilde, who lost to Perpetual in their play-in collision last season and ended up dropping out of the Final Four contention.
Both teams will be back on Friday, with Benilde facing defending champions Colegio de San Juan de Letran, while Perpetual faces the University of Mapua.
