LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech’s men’s golf program has announced its 2022-23 schedule, with four tournaments in the fall and six in the spring for the post-season. The Red Raiders open the season at the Frederica Cup on September 7-8 in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Tech, which was number 8 in the national rankings after last season, returns a strong core of players and has also added four newcomers. The program has moved up to two consecutive NCAA Championships and will be looking for a program-best third in a row this season, with the tournament once again being hosted at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Red Raiders head to Frederica Golf Club for the first tournament of the season before returning to Inverness Golf Club later in the month for the second event on the schedule. Tech won the 2019 Inverness Intercollegiate and will compete again in the September 26-27 event in Toledo, Ohio. The only tournament in the state of Texas comes with a trip to Fort Worth, where the Red Raiders will play in the Colonial Collegiate at Colonial Country Club from October 3-4. Tech will return to Colonial for the first time since finishing third in the 2020 Colonial Collegiate.
Together with the team that plays at Colonial, senior Ludvig Aberg will also participate in the PGA TOUR’s 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge which will be played on the track.
In the final event of the fall, the Red Raiders are back in the Houston area, playing against opponents from the conference in the 2022 Big 12 Match Play tournament. The annual event returns to the Club in Houston Oaks on September 17. October 19 at Hockley. Tech finished second at the event last season after winning for the first time in 2019.
Tech has six spring tournaments scheduled, starting with a return trip to Hawaii for the February 8-10 Amer Ari Invitational at the Hapuna Course Waikoloa. Tech finished second at the event last season. The spring schedule also includes The Prestige on February 20-22 at the PGA West Course in La Quinta, California, Cabo Collegiate (March 5-7), Valspar Collegiate in Palm City, Florida (March 27-28), Calusa Cup in Naples, Florida (April 2-4) and a trip to Phoenix to play in the Thunderbird Collegiate (April 14-15).
The 2023 Big 12 Championship will be played at the Prairie Dunes Club in Hutchinson, Kansas, leading into the NCAA postseason.
