MARTINSVILLE, Virginia — Martinsville Speedway is introducing the format for this year’s NASCAR Late Model Stock Car race on Saturday, September 24.

The ValleyStar Credit Union 300 has a purse of $110,000 and $32,000 for the race winner. The 200 lap feature race includes three segments: 100 laps, 75 laps and 25 laps. Phase 1 and Phase 2 winners will each receive $1,000.

On Friday September 23, four hours of practice will be followed by the qualifying with one car under the lights. The fastest qualifier will receive a $5,000 bonus. The full 40-car field for the feature will be determined in heat races on Saturday, September 25. There will be four heat races of 25 laps and no last chance race.

“This year’s format increases the challenge as every racer will compete in a heat race in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300,” said Martinsville president Clay Campbell. “Martinsville Speedway continues to be one of the fiercest racetracks challenging the best in motorsports, so we look forward to this year’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300 reinvigorating competition in the largest, richest and most prestigious NASCAR Late Model Stock Car race of the country. ”

In the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 feature, the leader of each round will receive $25 with $5,000 available in the rounds led bonus pool. If the race ends in overtime, there are unlimited attempts at a Green & White checker finish.

The Virginia Triple Crown will be awarded at the ValleyStar Credit Union 300. The first two races of the Virginia Triple Crown were held at South Boston Speedway on Saturday, July 2, and Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway on Saturday, July 23.

The driver who scores the best average finish between the three locations will be declared the winner of the Virginia Triple Crown and will receive a salary of $7,000. Second place will take home $2,000, while third place will receive $1,000.
