CLEMSON, SC — Clemson United was voted the nation’s unanimous No. 1 team in United Soccer Coaches’ preseason poll. The Tigers earned all eight votes for first place after the winning season of the 2021 National Championship. The full top-25 is linked HERE.
“It’s another first for our program and one that we are proud of,” said Head Coach Mike Noonan. “In recent years, Clemson Men’s Soccer has achieved a No. 1 position in the last season, a No. 1 RPI ranking, a No. 1 position in the NCAA Tournament and now a No. 1 position in the preseason. We are always aware that year-end rankings are the most important thing and we look forward to kicking off the 2022 season against Indiana at Riggs on August 26.”
Clemson is one of six ACC teams in the pre-season top-25. Notre Dame took the number 4 spot, while Pitt starts his campaign at number 7. Duke, Wake Forest and North Carolina complete the conference’s representation at numbers 12, 15 and 24 respectively.
The Tigers return All-ACC players Ousmane Sylla and Hamady Diop from their championship side, along with College Cup Offensive MVP Isaiah Reid.
Noonan’s 13th season at the helm kicks off August 26 at Historic Riggs Field against eight-time NCAA champion and #13-ranked Indiana in a battle for the blue blood of college football.
